Why get All-Ceramic crowns?

A traditional or porcelain bonded to metal crown is made by placing a porcelain covering over a metal framework. In certain situations this does not give the best esthetic or cosmetic result as the metal framework can be visible around the edge of your gums. Some patients cannot tolerate traditional crowns due to metal allergies that lead to allergic reactions in the gums.

All-Ceramic crowns have non-metallic frameworks and due to their physical structure will often look better. They are an especially good choice in the “front” or anterior teeth where esthetics counts for more. There are several different types of All-Ceramic crowns available and your dentist can recommend the best type for you. Not all situations permit the use of All-Ceramic crowns so consult with your dentist about your specific case.
